Some people wonder what a college marching band experience is like, especially young, impressionable children and junior high and high school band students. Sorry that this web page does not provide the exciting sounds of a marching band in action. You will just have to personally witness a marching band in action for the audio experience. But, along with the bold music, the visuals are also something to behold. Presented here for your enjoyment is a day in the life of the Mustang Marching Band during a home game performance. But, the October 7, 2006, performance day was different than usual, as this was the day of the annual battle of the Cal Poly Mustangs and the U.C. Davis Aggies football teams in San Luis Obispo. With this game in SLO comes U.C. Davis' Aggies Marching Band. Such an occurrence only happens once every two years, so it is a memorable day for both bands when they get to meet, face to face in SLO. Following the football game, both bands faced each other on the field for a rousing and wild battle-of-the-bands. You will never see anything as energizing, heart warming and exciting as the friendly informal competition between two very powerful and devoted marching bands. This is what forges lifelong memories for band students and families. Enjoy! |
