Gone But Not Forgotten
All around me I see those faces that have witnessed my struggle,
just as I have witnessed theirs. They have been my brothers so long,
I sometimes overlook their treasures.
For something is never valued quite enough, until it has ceased to be.
To one side stands a man who dances in the bamboo wind,
screaming silver songs and poems in reverse.
He has been my sad-sweet company and fellow traveler,
at times so close I have felt his quiet tear upon my cheek.
He has been my family and my friend.
